SUE TOMLIN
(Violin, Fiddle, & Vocals)

Sue earned her B.A. in Music from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and performs on the viola with The Macon Symphony Orchestra. In Alabama she “discovered” fiddling and has been hooked since. She has performed through the years with many groups from classical, swing, dance music and more. As a winner of numerous talent and fiddle contests, she founded The Northeast Minnesota Fiddlers’ Club in Duluth, Minnesota, and has written 2 books with one on fiddling and the other being original arrangements for the solo violinist. The Macon Junior Symphony was under her direction for 6 seasons.  Sue taught strings for 7 years in the public schools of Asheville, North Carolina and also at “The Swannanoa Gathering.” And it all began in the 6th grade in the public schools of Shreveport, Louisiana studying to her an unfamiliar instrument… the viola. Her love of string music has been passed on to her daughter, also a violinist, fiddler, and teacher in Macon, Georgia.

NANCY SASSER
(Bass & Vocals)

Nancy sings with enthusiasm and animation with her deep commanding voice.  She offers a lifetime love of music beginning with her violin studies in Macon with Alice Kirpatrick and Henri Schwartzenberger. Nancy received her Suzuki training at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, and inspires her violin students with innovative teaching ideas using her

original teaching songs that are both clever and creative. Nancy has written of novelty songs that are performed by The Back Porch Symphony including “The Sofa Song,” “The Answering Machine Blues,” and her infamous “Road Possum”…a much requested number. Nancy holds and auctioneers license as well as a real estate license in Georgia. Nancy, the mother of 3, resides in her hometown of Macon, Georgia with her husband.

CHRIS CRIDER
(Guitar & Vocals)

Chris was born in Virginia and received his first guitar from a Western Auto store on his 11th birthday.  At the age of 25 he began practicing long days, and he has the hot licks to prove it! With his versatility in many styles, he has traveled over the country playing music. As an accomplished guitarist, Chris is in demand both as a performer and a teacher.  When not performing and teaching, he can be found giving friendly service in downtown Macon at the Bibb Music Store or playing his guitar for the worship services at Mable White Baptist Church in Macon…his latest endeavors. He has resided in Georgia for 23 years and presently lives in Dry Branch, Georgia with his wife and his young son.

NOTES OF APPRECIATION

CONCERTS

The Warner Robins Little Theatre Board wishes to express their appreciation to you, Chris Crider, and Nancy Sasser for the very entertaining and delightful evenings when The Back Porch Symphony performed at our theatre on January 5th and 6th.

Your great talent, light humor, and musical selections were outstanding.  Those present certainly spent an enjoyable and memorable evening. Everyone relaxed and had fun, too.

Anne Inman, WRLT Board Member

On behalf of Prevost Car and the Stevenson Group, I would like to thank you for your wonderful performance at the Client Appreciation Dinner.  The Back Porch Symphony was the perfect entertainment for our Southern Charms banquet!  We appreciate your enthusiasm for the music and your graciousness in allowing the show to take a detour for a few minutes by our attendee.  It was truly a reflection of your professionalism and your perfection to entertainment.

Debra Stevenson, President of The Stevenson Group, Inc.

Our class could not stop talking about this concert.  The possum song continued to be sung all day.  Many of us liked the folk songs.  We thought the group was cool and played wonderfully.   We wish to thank them for their time and enjoyment we received. I hope they continue bringing joy to other schools sharing music.
